The Introduction of Ecosystem Beijing Traditional Toy
As an ancient cultural capital with a history of thousands of years, Beijing is not just a city but a living ecosystem of China’s traditional toy culture. It preserves a complete lineage ranging from imperial arts to folk crafts, forming a cultural resource system that is both passed down in an orderly manner and continuously innovative. Through long-term and systematic promotion, over a hundred types of traditional toys and their crafting techniques—such as kites, clay figurines, dough sculpting, "fairy monkey" figurines, shadow puppetry, and diabolo—have been consistently transformed into creative resources that can be experienced, taught and industrialized. Each year, they reach tens of thousands of enthusiasts worldwide, allowing ancient wisdom to remain vibrantly alive in the modern era.
The core value of Beijing’s traditional toys lies in their “cultural depth rooted in everyday life, exquisite handmade craftsmanship, and inherent nature of learning through play”. They are not merely toys but three-dimensional carriers of Oriental aesthetics, philosophy, and folk traditions. From the well-being wishes carried by the “Lord Rabbit” (兔儿爷) figurine, to the lively spirit conveyed through diabolo performance; from the auspicious metaphors in kite patterns, to the vivid depictions of life in “fairy monkey” scenes—each piece embodies stories, emotions, and wisdom. This characteristic of integrating profound culture into interactive experiences makes Beijing’s traditional toys uniquely charming in the global toy market, serving as a cultural bridge connecting history and the present, as well as China and the world.
Today, Beijing’s traditional toys’ value had transcended mere collection and display. They are increasingly functioning as?“living cultural IPs”?and?“sources of creative design”,?integrating into global cultural tourism, education, and creative industries. Their dynamic performances (such as diabolo spinning and shadow puppetry shows) have been highly acclaimed in international cultural exchanges, demonstrating the strong appeal and industrial transformation potential of this cultural resource. We sincerely invite partners from around the world to take this exhibition as an opportunity not only to appreciate exquisite craftsmanship but also to explore how this unique Chinese traditional cultural and creative resource can be transformed into distinctive products, educational programs, or experiential projects, opening up differentiated market opportunities.

3、Cao Xueqin-style Kites (National-Level Intangible Cultural Heritage)
